Lost bodily functions

Ok, dumb question: In the ‘Lost’ chronology, about 2-3 months have passed since the plane went down in that island. What do the women do for their menstruation? I mean, honestly… We saw Charlie shaving on last night’s episode, but we don’t know if women have anything in their disposal to deal with their own problems. I hope this mystery will eventually be solved! ;-)

In the middle ages, women used cloth to craft makeshift tampons and pads. I don’t know if they would know how to do this, but it’s certainly possible to remain relatively clean with the clothes in the baggage.

A better question is whether those clothes can be re-used, and if not, how long until they go through the rest of the clothing?

Chum the water ? Maybe they have Dharma Initiative Tampons? They could just use some absorbent cloth and change it.

Did you ever wonder about the lack of bathrooms on Star Trek ? Wesley never asked to go bathroom, ever. In fact the only time I remember the subject ever being brought up was in Star Trek: First Contact/

ZC: I gotta take a leak.
LaFroge: Leak? I’m not detecting any leak.
ZC: Don’t you people from the 24th century ever pee?
ZC: Oh. leak. I get it. That’s pretty funny.

Probably an in-joke about the lack of bodily functions on the show. Just like when they shot Superman in the eye in Superman returns.

They could. But believe me, clothes don’t work well. Up until 1975 or so my grandma was still using those and they were far from giving a “secure” feeling. Plus, if they don’t have disinfectant chemicals with them they can’t easily reuse these clothes without the fear of getting infected one way or another.

BTW, I was reading a few years ago an article about some women who were lost in a tropical island (for real), for about 5 months. They lost their period after 2-3 months because they apparently only found fruits to eat. Their period came back after they returned to civilization…

Yeah, good question and observation. But i don’t think people really care that much, rather than who will be eaten next?

I actually care about all that stuff. I care how they sleep, if rain gets in under their roof, what do they eat now that Locke does not seem to hunt and the Dharma food is running low etc.

Blowing up the hatch was the most stupid thing they did, because it was a shelter and it had food and clean water!
