Guys, I feel ya

The biggest two sites on the internets about gadgets, Gizmodo and Engadget, had a lot of iPhone coverage this weekend. A lot of it. They got lots of trolling on their comment section because of it, and hate email too. I 100% support the sites’ decision to write lots about the iPhone. There were times that we had to publish lots of news stories about Ubuntu, other times lots of stories about Vista, other times lots of stories about something else that had just got released. The reason is because that was hot news at the time, just like iPhone is now for these gadget-specific sites. It just makes sense, from the editor’s point of view. If as a reader you don’t like a story, skip it. Besides, Engadget said it best: “news is ALWAYS really slow on the weekends” (and this is verifiably true for ALL tech sites), so why the hate?

Well said!
I guess I’ll never understand why some people read a story with the headline containing the word “Ubuntu” (or “Vista”, for that matter) and afterwards complain that it was yet another story about Ubuntu and that OSNews has wasted their time.
What did they expect?
A way to earn a 1M$ in a week?
The cure for cancer AND AIDS AND unhappiness in the world?

And it’s not like it’s hard to keep up with the articles.

I guess it must be some weird ego thing.
Being part of an enlightened and elitist community or something.
